Gravity Falls!

So, Ive spent the last year working on a new show called Gravity Falls at Disney TV. The first episode just aired a few days ago and I couldn't be more proud of how it turned out. I'm lucky enough to be on the design team with 3 amazingly talented folks. Elle Michalka, Sean Jimenez, and Bill Flores. Ian Worrel is our art director.
Elle and Ian are posting GF stuff so check out their blogs for that. Sean and Bill don't have blogs because they yearn for a simpler time when we chopped our own firewood and drove around in horseless carriages.
I'll post more as the series starts to play out, but for now, here are a few things from the pilot.
-Some very early color exploration of the Town and the Kitchen. background design by Mr. Sean Jimenez.
-A color key and finished bg from the titles sequence. Story boarded by Alonso Ramirez Ramos, final layout by Mr. Ian Worrel.

A test for a bigger project that I've been working on. I haven't really done any animation type stuff since school, it feels great to get back into it!

You need to go to Vimeo to view it larger.

Sing Statistics, Reverence Library

Talented illustrators and independent publishers Jez Burrows and Lizzy Stewert have just released their 3rd book, Reverence Library. The book is a collection of art and short fiction concerning 3 different subject matters. They were kind enough to ask me to contribute a small amount of work for its first volume.

Great job guys!

Teen Angst

So in high school my favorite movie was Beetle Juice. Lidia, the sand worms, that weird shrunken head guy in the waiting room.. Man I love that movie.. My second favorite movie was Edward Scissorhands, so when the very talented Seb Mesnard asked if I could do something to celebrate it's 20th anniversary, I couldn't say no. Seb is collecting all the work on this great blog here-
http://scissorhands20th.blogspot.com/
and he's put together an art show at The Gallery Nucleus in Alhambra. The opening reception will be on April 16th. More info here-

I've always assumed that Edward was a Cure fan. Not sure why, just sort of makes sense.

Yuki 7 Go!

Murder in Milan, 1968
Secret Agent Yuki 7 travels to Milan in pursuit of Toshiro Shindo, a famed Japanese fashion designer with a penchant for murder and mind control. Only Yuki can stop him as he holds the fashion district hostage with an army of deadly runways models under his control.

A poster for Kevin Dart's upcoming book, Seductive Espionage, the World of Yuki 7. I was seriously humbled when Kevin asked me to contribute a page, he's been working so hard on this project and it looks amazing! I'll do another post when the book is released in a few months, there's also a corresponding show at the Nucleus in July, info here.

One of my favorite Poirot stories, I thought it would be a fun assignment to design as many of the key characters as I could.
